Teaching Philosophy
When I begin with my teaching philosophy, I think about why I teach and the importance of my job. I am serving as a mentor to my students and encourage lifelong learning. I am meant to share my enthusiasm for learning through creative and exciting lessons. I will teach my students responsibility and accountability that will prepare them for their future roles in the world. I want them to be critical, creative, and bold thinkers through learning how to ask good questions, learning to problem solve, and how to communicate.
Above are my goals and I will accomplish this through the way I teach. I will use a variety of instructional strategies, consider learning styles and aptitudes, actively engage the students, use technology, and connect social studies to life experiences. I will use reflective practice, authentic assessments, give advice and feedback, and communicate well with the students and parents. As a social studies teacher, I want my students to connect history to their lives and the present and I believe through my teaching philosophy, I can accomplish this goal.
